John Rice
70+ Expert
AHRMA National Champion
and Legendary Motocross Icon
John Rice, also known as "John R." to most of us, has been involved with motorcycles for a very long time. He started racing in the early 1950's at the age of 21. At that time, motocross didn't exist. John competed in TT and Hare Scrambles at many well known tracks throughout California.
In the early 70's, he teamed up with "The Professor" Gary Bailey teaching motocross classes at tracks like Indian Dunes, Bay Mare and Saddleback.
In 1978, John retired from motocross and got into Endurance Horse Racing. Moving up the ranks in this sport for nearly 20 years didn't keep John away from the need for speed. One day while watching his daughter Tami race at Perris Raceway, he was introduce to vintage motocross racing by Goat Breker and his dad Richard, who were getting ready for the Elsinore GP they were promoting. John quickly got back in touch with the sport, earning the 60+ National # 1 AHRMA plate
